Bible Verse of the Week

Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. – Psalm 51:10 (NIV)

O God, I wander.

God I’m far from you.

My heart has deserted

Its true love to

Another. My spirit fails

Me and I begin to suffer.

The light is quenched

And darkness tougher

Than I’ve known

Overcomes my innocence.

God reminds me he is near

And desires obedience.

This I have lacked

And have turned from

The power that sustains.

He gestures to come,

Return to the joy I felt

When salvation was given

To me as a gift and all

My sins were forgiven.

This reminder lights

The Holy Spirit’s fire

In me and my focus

Is renewed. The Liar

Has lost his grip

As I stand renewed, fresh,

Steadfast, focused,

Victorious over this flesh.

Praise be to God –

My rescue and strength.

I’ll tell of His goodness

For all of life’s length.
