Bible Verse of the Week

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. – 2nd Corinthians 10:3-5

Garrisons are defensive military strong holds that are usually established within a city for protection against the enemy. Garrison units were able to fortify defensive weaknesses and force the enemy to advance through areas where they would be most vulnerable and inflict the greatest amount of casualties.

What happens when we are coming against the enemies’ garrison in our own lives? His lies have occupied a “city” for years, even decades, fortifying what seems to be an impenetrable stronghold. How are we to overcome and what strategy can you implement to ensure victory?

No offense to you, but you cannot do anything. There is no self-help book, no 10-step process, no type of positive or negative reinforcement that can truly provide the armament you need to defeat the enemies that have set up garrisons in your life.

We shouldn’t wage war using the world’s weapons. For those of the army of Christ Jesus, we are to use weapons with divine power. Do not seek victory over the enemies’ garrisons through your own strength but through spiritual strength. Train in the arenas of Prayer and Fasting for these will build your spiritual strength and prepare you to completely demolish the stronghold.

After you have gained victory, permanently take captive the city, establish your own garrison, and make every thought obedient to Christ in order to prevent the enemy from recapturing what you spiritually fought for so that now the “city” may be rebuilt and utilized for the glory of Christ Jesus.
